My daughter tried to OD, been here since 4a.m. Was standing in the hall around 6:15 to try to get SOMEONE to talk to us and was told they have a serious patient. That patient came in at a quarter to 6! In an hour and 45 minutes not one doctor could speak to us. It is now 6:36a.m. and STILL NO DOCTOR! I suppose my DAUGHTER trying to KILL HERSELF IS NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH HERE! Worst hospital ever.
I am beyond disturbed and disappointed by the treatment my grandfather and our family received in the ER tonight. We came in a little before 10PM and were not discharged just before 4AM. Sitting in an emergency room for over five and a half hours while worried about a loved one is already stressful enough, but the lack of compassion and professionalism we experienced made it even worse. Dr. Leisa R. Spence showed absolutely no empathy or concern toward the patient and us as family members. After all medical tests had already been completed and results were back, we still waited an additional hour just for her to come into the room. During that time, several times I walked out only to see her on her personal cell phone laughing and talking with coworkers while we sat there worried about my grandfather’s condition. At one point, I even asked her what the hold up was and why we had not been updated. Her response was simply, “I’ll be in there and I came in when he first got here” before turning right back around to her computer area with no sense of urgency at all. As a family member sitting there concerned about a loved one, that response felt cold, dismissive, and completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the nurse assigned to us came into the room wearing AirPods and acted completely dismissive while I was trying to explain what was going on with my grandfather. There was no compassion, no reassurance, and no professionalism just cold and careless behavior. No family should ever feel ignored, dismissed, or emotionally drained while seeking emergency medical care for someone they love. Healthcare is more than running tests and clocking hours; it’s also about treating people with dignity, compassion, urgency, and professionalism. Tonight’s experience was heartbreaking, upsetting, and one of the worst healthcare experiences I have ever witnessed.
Recently have had to get multiple scans in the radiology department at FCMC. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. The wait was minimal, the staff very friendly and went above and beyond to make the experience better. Thankful for a local hospital and access to great medical care without driving out of town.
I went to the ER on 2/20/26 around 10:30pm. I went in for severe pain in the shoulder, chest, and back. I had an MRI a month before, which showed herniated discs in my neck, and I feared one of my discs may have ruptured or something had moved. I was in extreme pain and never asked for pain medication. All I wanted was a CT or something to confirm I would not end up paralyzed. Dr. Ruiz came in, stated my MRI showed herniated discs, and of course, I would have pain. I asked multiple times to try to do some tests, and all he said was, "Well, the herniated discs are on one side, so you still have one good side at least." He gave me a steroid shot and left. He looked at me for 2 minutes. He didn't check my BP, which was 170/104 at the time. Obviously, they did not care about helping when I did not want pain meds, just someone to care and help find a solution.
I was so nervous going in for carpel tunnel release surgery but honestly the folks back in the O.R. area were awesome! They had me laughing before & after surgery i hope they know how much those laughs helped when I was so anxious I could have thrown up lol My hand is healing quite nicely as well.
