Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 5:31 PMI am deeply disappointed with the care my premature baby received under the supervision of Dr. Hitesh Diar. As a concerned parent, I expected a standard of care that reflected the expertise and compassion one would anticipate from a specialized ICU. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. Firstly, it is shocking that no consent was sought before performing any treatment procedures, including the insertion of a PICC line. This is a fundamental aspect of patient care that was completely disregarded. Additionally, the unreasonable pressure placed on my premature baby to consume 50ml of milk within 15 minutes as a condition for discharge was incredibly distressing. This approach is not only unprofessional but also harmful, considering the fragile state of infants in ICU. There were several instances of negligence, including leaving my baby out of the incubator for two hours, which I believe could have posed a serious risk to her well-being. Limiting kangaroo care, a practice known for its numerous benefits, to just one hour is another example of the lack of compassion and understanding demonstrated by Dr. Hitesh Diar. Moreover, Dr. Hitesh Diar was frequently unavailable when needed, and updates on my baby’s condition were only provided when we actively sought them out. This lack of communication is unacceptable, particularly in such a critical care setting. To make matters worse, the nursing staff was consistently rude, abrupt, and inconsiderate, displaying a level of incompetence that is utterly unacceptable in an ICU setting. Their behavior added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time. The inconsistency in feeding protocols—initially underfeeding my baby only to later overfeed her—further reflects a lack of competent care. Additionally, leaving unnecessary IV lines in my baby, increasing the risk of infection, was another troubling oversight. The ICU is supposed to be a specialized, premium unit, offering the highest level of care with qualified nursing personnel who are well-versed in ICU standards. Parents should feel reassured, informed, and supported by the medical team. However, this was far from the case in our experience. The lack of compassion, communication, and professional standards we encountered is alarming. I hope this feedback will prompt serious reflection and improvement in the care provided, to prevent any other family from enduring such a distressing experience. .
